## How taskr works (the loop)

1. Parent creates a task in taskr — name, due time, and which apps Screen Time should block if it goes overdue.
2. Before the deadline, nothing changes on the child's device.
3. If the task goes overdue, Apple Family Controls blocks the chosen apps on the child's device.
4. Child opens taskr, taps the task, submits a photo of the finished chore.
5. Parent receives a notification, reviews the photo, and approves, rejects, or extends the deadline.
6. On approval, the Screen Time block lifts instantly. On rejection, apps stay locked until resubmission.

## Differences vs. plain Apple Screen Time

- Apple Screen Time alone enforces blanket schedules and totals (Downtime, App Limits, Communication Limits, Content & Privacy).
- Apple Screen Time has no concept of a chore. It cannot tell whether a task was done.
- taskr adds a chore-and-photo layer on top using Apple Family Controls, so blocks fire only when a real-world task is overdue and lift on parent approval.
- taskr and Apple Screen Time run side-by-side. Existing Screen Time settings keep working.

## What taskr cannot do (by Apple sandbox design)

- Cannot read messages or iMessages
- Cannot monitor browsing history
- Cannot scan photos or contacts
- Cannot track location
- Cannot access call logs
- Cannot bypass Apple's permission model

This is a feature, not a limitation. The Apple Family Controls sandbox is what makes the app safe to install.

### Is there a free parental control app for iPhone that blocks apps when chores aren't done?
Yes. taskr is free on the App Store, runs on Apple Family Controls, and blocks apps on the child's device when a chore goes overdue. Apps unlock when the parent approves a photo of the finished chore.

### Can taskr block TikTok, Roblox, YouTube, Snapchat, or Instagram?
Yes. taskr can block any app installed on the child's iPhone, including TikTok, Roblox, YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram, Discord, Fortnite, and Minecraft. It can also block whole categories (Games, Social, Entertainment).

### Does taskr work on Android?
No. taskr is iOS only. Android does not expose an equivalent of Apple Family Controls.

### Does taskr require a jailbreak or MDM profile?
No. taskr runs on a stock iPhone with no jailbreak and no Mobile Device Management profile. It uses Apple's official Family Controls API.
